Frequently Asked Questions

What is forestry mulching?

Forestry mulching is the use of a machine, whether it’s a skid steer or dedicated unit, to turn various types of vegetation or tree material into a fine mulch product. Originally, forestry mulching was developed in Germany for field reclamation and didn’t make its way to North America until the late 1990s.

What is the difference between forestry mulching and brush hogging?

Forestry mulching is typically for larger and tougher materials such as Sumac, Russian Olive trees, Pines, Maples, and some Oak. Brush hogging is more of a lawn mowing type of service for high grass, grape vines, and pricker bushes. Our brush-hogging services are typically for material no larger than a broomstick or baseball bat. Our forestry mulching services can handle material up to 12” in diameter.

Who needs forestry mulching?

Forestry mulching is great for the landowner or homeowner who has areas of unwanted material or vegetation, such as invasive species and trees that grew unexpectedly and wants them removed. Our services are often used for new home construction, expanding backyards in residential neighborhoods, field reclamation for farmers and landowners, as well as rights of way access for commercial utilities.

Is forestry mulching good for the environment?

Forestry mulching is considered a green initiative. The reason is that the material is mulched into the ground, which helps preserve the pH and natural organic matter of the area. Forestry mulching also helps with erosion control.

Why should I remove the stump from my yard?

Stumps can cause many problems in your yard as they attract insects and other unwanted pests, such as termites and hornets. Stumps are also tripping hazards and a nuisance when it comes to making the most of your outdoor space.

How much does it cost to remove a stump from my yard?

Typically, we price per inch of the widest part of the stump. If there is rough or sloped terrain involved, we typically factor this in as well. We would be happy to discuss pricing with you in person or after giving us a call.
